I just threw up a little in my mouth

Last night, I happened to catch that Blast Off! was picked up on a Memeorandum thread. Went over to check it out, as I like to see who's linking here now and then, and what I saw nearly made me physically ill:

Do you see that? Here, let me blow it up a little for you:

Ew. Putting Blast Off! in the same line as Michelle Malkin is gonna make me regret eating breakfast this morning.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Ms. Malkin, you will never forget this epic performance (and by "never forget," I mean "I hope you have an industrial-strength jug of brain bleach handy"):

I'm sorry. I know you can never unsee that.

Grossology

Today, I'm taking my kids to the South Florida Science Museum to see their exhibit dedicated to human bodily functions, called "Grossology." It features things like a human skin wall (complete with warts, pimples, and scabs) and a Vomit Center. I think the kids will really enjoy it -- me, not so much, but you know, the things we do for our kids ...

Anyway, I got to thinking: what might a political version of "Grossology" include?

You'd see things like:
  • Huggy Bear's Naval Academy grades and his flying record
  • Sarah Palin's integrity -- or what's left of it
  • Drunky McStagger's medicine cabinet
  • Sean Hannity -- not anything of his, just Sean himself
  • Ping-pong balls once owned by Michelle Malkin
  • Ann Coulter's next manuscript
  • A sign from Tim Henderson's parking lot
  • An interactive display: Watch Your 401k Drop!
  • Dick Cheney's black, shriveled heart
  • ... and so much more!
Something tells me the body odor identification display in the real Grossology would be less offensive than all that stuff ...

Sorry, I can't hear you ... my mind is boggling

I found the picture to the right (click image or here for larger version) while searching for pictures for the Daily Schadenfreude post below. It came from this blog, part of the Spokane (Wash.) Spokesman-Review newspaper.

I don't even know what to say about this picture. I mean, it's offensive on so many levels ...

First of all, it demeans women of all political persuasions by treating them as objects of honor or derision based solely on their appearance. Of course, Rethugs have never been known for their consideration, sensitivity, or taste, but still ... it's disgusting.

Second, it fails to take into account the non-physical merits of the women pictured. Okay, I grant you that some of the women pictured may not be as "beautiful" physically as American society apparently demands that they be. But to ignore their other attributes, such as intelligence, compassion, and leadership is to deny them full recognition as people, which is unacceptable. Besides, the pictures chosen of the "ugly" liberals generally were selected to make them appear as hideous as possible, for effect. How unfair.

Third, they really think Coulter and Malkin are hot? What the fuck are they smoking? And you want hot liberals? How about Salma Hayek? Or Jennifer Garner? Charlize Theron, anyone? Jeebus, what about Jane Hamsher and Lindsay Beyerstein for that matter?

I mean, talk about hot. I'd hit any of them so hard, whoever pulled me out would be King of England. I mean, seriously, they're ...

Ahem. Sorry. I guess I got a little carried away there.

My point was that judging women based solely on appearance is unfair, inappropriate, and wrong. Let's leave it to Republicans to focus only on how a woman looks and not how she thinks or acts.

(That other stuff I said ... well, let's just keep that between us.)

Wanker of the Day update

By popular request, I am pleased to present the latest installment in the occasional series of Wanker of the Day statistics. For the previous tallies, or if you have no idea what "Wanker of the Day" is, go here and here. I just don't feel like writing all the background. So there.

The Hall of Fame currently has six members: David Broder, Fred Hiatt, Joe Klein, Joe Lieberman, John McCain, and Glenn Reynolds. All of those were in the charter class of inductees except Broder, who was added when Atrios declared him the first Wanker Emeritus.

And now, the updated list, as of today, of those lucky few who have wanked themselves to top honors at least four times:

19 - Joe Lieberman (in 2007: 3/29, 4/12, and 4/20, in addition to those shown in the prior tallies); and Glenn Reynolds (4/7) ... yep, it's a tie for the lead! Who will be first to 20? Maybe not Joe or Instawanker ...
18 - Fred Hiatt (4/5, 5/21, 6/3, 6/4)
17 - Joe Klein (4/23, 5/25, 6/7, 6/11)
10 - John McCain (4/1)
9 - David Broder (4/10 by vote, 4/26 as emeritus, 5/24); Jonah Goldberg (no new honors since last tally)
8 - Richard Cohen (no new honors); Andrew Sullivan (5/30)
7 - Michelle Malkin, Tim Russert, John "Assrocket" Hinderaker, Rick Santorum (no new honors for any of them)
6 - Marshall Wittman (no new honors)
5 - Bill O'Reilly, Peter Beinart (no new honors for either)
4 - Tom Friedman, Hugh Hewitt, Will Saletan (no new honors for any of them); George W. Bush, a/k/a Drunky McStagger (4/3)

Some anecdotes:

  • Atrios named himself WotD for the second time on May 27; the first occurred on January 20, 2005.
  • Hiatt's honors on June 3 and 4 make him only the second person ever to "win" on consecutive days (after Marshall Wittman, January 10-11, 2006).
  • April 1 was the ninth multi-wanker day and the first since January 21, 2007.
  • The only non-Hall of Famer to be a multiple honoree in this cycle (since the last tally) is Katie Couric, who wanked her way to the top spot on April 13 and June 9. She still has a ways to go, though, to catch up with the leading female wanker, seven-time WotD Michelle Malkin.
And so it goes until the next update ... the Hall of Famers continue to wank away, but there aren't a lot of current wankers waiting in the wings as potential candidates to join the Big Six. It doesn't take long, though -- if Klein and Hiatt have been WotD as many times since April 1 as Drunky McStagger has been in over two years, then there's real hope for a dark horse to reach the pantheon.

Keep wanking, pundits and pukes. The sky's the limit!

Michelle Malkin, embedded

Here's Michelle showing off her favorite Christmas gift.

She's so cute, getting ready for her little adventure in Iraq. Hope she's having a swell time. Her friends are so concerned ... although she's no GI.

In the words of geor3ge, it's just a big game of dress-up for them. Real lives are being lost, but this picture will stand alongside that of Commander Codpiece as examples of how seriously the wingnuts are taking the reality of Bush's Folly.
