Blast Off! Radio today at 4:00 pm EDT: Undisclosed Location Broadcasting

Taking Undisclosed Location Blogging to a whole new level, I'll be broadcasting today from an undisclosed location ... well, you'll have to listen to the show to find out where I am. And, no, I'm not wearing a striped shirt and hat.

But I will be in a bastion of liberal thought, an enclave of openness and intelligence in an American sea of closed-mindedness, bigotry, and heinous stupidity. And that's just Sarah Palin!

Anyway, although I'll be cutting today's show back to a half hour because of personal time commitments, you'll still get all the snark, all the commentary, and all the opportunity to participate that you have come to expect from Blast Off! Radio. In particular, we have more pointing-and-laughing to do at Gov. Palin, along with a brief review of the Republican National Convention and a look at the ongoing election screw-ups in south Florida.

Speaking of participating, here's how you do it:

TIME: 4:00 pm Eastern TODAY
Call in number: (646) 716-7543

I'm looking forward to talking with you this afternoon. Remember -- tune in to find out where Sinfonian is now! Undisclosed Location Broadcasting -- it's fun and it's free!

Undisclosed Location Blogging

When you need to buy a house but you just have to have that patchouli-and-hemp attitude:

Na ga do it. Na ga watch Huggy.

I'm rather enjoying things in my Undisclosed Location at the moment, actually, so why ruin it by watching ol' Noun-Verb-POW tell the world how he plans to protect us from the Mean Brown People and protect the profits of millionaires like himself and his pals at ExxonMobil, Halliburton, et al.?

However, I couldn't help but marvel at the commenters on my local fishwrap's political blog. On a post about the expected campaign visits of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin in America's Glans™ (weather permitting) next week, you had winners like these:

Interesting comparison between Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. Hillary has never actually run anything but a political machine (at which, of course, she was unparalled), which is precisely what Americans don’t want any more of—Washington politicians and their ear marks and lobbyist masters. Palin has run a business, has run a city (yes, small, but still the same responsibilities) and run a state—with distinction. If Floridians (and Americans) don’t see the difference, then they will deserve what they get, more politican promises and fakery.

I couldn’t agree more and the audacity of the Democrats saying she has too many children to handle the job - what about Nancy Pelosi who has more children.

I had never heard of Palin but am extremely impressed by what I have seen and read. She really does have more experience in running a government than Obama.

I would love to see Sara Palin. She is the hope of middle class Americans. Hillary is disgracing herself by campaigning for Obama who has a communist/ leftist background. Of course Hillary is working off her campaign debts!
And that was just in the first three comments. Naturally, I had to respond:

Those first few commenters must be on some serious drugs. To equate the leadership experience and skills of two-year Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to those of U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton is nothing short of ludicrous.

Hillary Clinton time and again has demonstrated her leadership acumen, while Sarah Palin has managed to abstinence-educate her daughter into a pregnancy, fire all of the city officials (because they might “cross” her) as mayor of tiny Wasilla, AK, and participate in treasonous activity as a speaker for and supporter of the Alaskan Independence Party (Google that one, kids), of which her husband Todd was a registered member.

Furthermore, comparing the two women is deceptive on its face, since they are in completely different political arenas; they are not competing with each other. This is an election between Obama/Biden, with new ideas, experience, and a plan to restore the U.S. to greatness following the last disastrous eight years, and McCain/Palin, who promise more of the same failed policies of the Bush years along with some Jerry Springer-like shenanigans.

Thanks but no thanks. Pay attention, people, and remember that you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, no matter how hard you try.
I was going to say, "You can't polish a turd," but it being an MSM blog, I figured I'd get tossed right out on my cyberkeister for that one.

It amazes me how the Republicans, especially the 28%er crowd, can rally around a guy most of 'em think isn't doctrinaire or hateful enough and a running mate who very well may be a worse pick historically than Dan Quayle. Of course, Quayle and his paw-paw, GHWB, won the election, which amazes me even more now that I think about it.

Point being, They Walk Among Us. And we can't let up until the night of November 4.

Les Kinsolving is an abysmal hack

So this morning I'm in a taxi and the driver has a news show on -- might have been NPR, I'm not sure. Anyway, they're covering the RNC, and they interviewed "conservative columnist" Les Kinsolving, who was described as, if I remember correctly, "not afraid to speak his mind." His website calls him "the nation's un-labeled talk show host," which I'd like to counter at this time by labeling him a Neanderthal fuckwad.

Les was asked what he was most excited about at the RNC, and the guy couldn't stop gushing about Sarah Palin. The first thing he said about her -- before her gubernatorial experience, before any boost she brings to the GOP ticket -- was that she was "the most gorgeous governor" in America. Then, barely pausing to take a breath, he opined that her strongest asset was that she was "better looking than [Joe] Biden."

I'm sorry -- did I miss where this was a fucking beauty pageant? How is it that mouth-breathing assholes like Kinsolving are allowed within 150 feet of a working microphone, let alone given their own talk show and a forum from which to spew their small-minded garbage?

Thing is, I suspect Les is just saying what most of the delegates and onlookers in St. Paul were thinking last night. Republicans don't want to talk about issues, because they know it's a losing proposition. So they have to shift the goalposts and make this election about glamour (real or perceived) and the "hot" VP candidate -- never mind her treasonous record, her abysmal parenting skills, or her authoritarian governing style. She's a trainwreck, and her appearance has nothing to do with it.

So Kinsolving isn't afraid to speak his mind? Well, in this case, I suspect his mind should have told him to shut the fuck up.

On the road again

So, I heard that Caribou Barbie gave her speech. Had every intention of watching it but it was past my bedtime. Guess I'll catch it on "World's Wildest Fascist Videos" next time around.

Oh, here's a little joke I made up:

Q: Why does Sarah Palin wear Wrangler?
A: She's tired of Levi's Genes.

Maybe it works better when you say it out loud ...

Anyway, you may have noticed it was a light posting day today. Sorry about that. Tomorrow may be iffy as well, but by the weekend things should return to normal ... which around here usually means just saying "fuck" a lot. Hope all is well in your world.

I came, I saw, I ...

... didn't embarrass myself, at least.

Well, my work at the Undisclosed Location is done. And while I didn't succeed fully, I pretty much achieved my goals. And, ultimately, isn't that all anyone can ask?

I imagine I'll share some pictures with you, loyal reader ... but I probably shouldn't do so for a while. How does November 7 sound to you?

Yes, I'm being cryptic ... but if I weren't, it wouldn't be Undisclosed.

Back to America's Wang™ tomorrow, and hopefully normal (more or less) blogging soon thereafter.

Undisclosed Location Blogging, photo edition

Well, if you listened to Blast Off! Radio today, you know exactly where I am. (You can catch the archived show in the player to the left through tonight and tomorrow morning; I'll try to link up the permanent archive before then.)

But, because I'm such a nice guy, here are a couple of photographic hints. (Click for larger versions.) I'll say this: the weather here has been spectacular.

Undisclosed Location Blogging: update

My purpose for traveling here is going very well.

And I am alive. I guess that's as much as I should expect right now.

So, I haven't been online all day. What's this I hear about Larry Craig's guilty plea being upheld? Couldn't happen to a nicer toe-tapper guy.

More to come, including a possible Big Announcement ...

Undisclosed Location Blogging

Remember when I went to D.C. last month and I was all excited because I had mobile broadband and could liveblog anywhere? Remember that I now have Internet access anywhere I have cell phone access?

Well, I got to my hotel today ... no wireless, and somehow I managed to leave my mobile broadband device at home. I am officially a dumbass.

Fortunately, there's a business center with free computer use. So, here's my undisclosed location blogging for now. I'll be home tomorrow night, and then the major undisclosed location blogging takes place next week. In the meantime, have an open thread, and enjoy the views from my hotel balcony.

This is facing west ...

And this is a bit closer, just below my room.
