You know what really grinds my gears? (Think of this post with a
Quahog accent -- it works better that way.)
I'm traveling ... in fact, as I'm writing this, I'm sitting in the Atlanta airport. I fly quite a bit. But for the life of me, there's one thing I can't figure out.
Why do so many airline passengers insist on unbuckling their seat belts the instant the plane touches ground? Is it really that hard to wait until the plane reaches the gate and the "Fasten Seat Belt" sign is turned off?

I know, in the grand scheme of things, this ain't much. But it's bugged me for years.
YEARS. Honestly, what tactical or temporal advantage does one gain from premature unbuckling? I find that from my customary aisle seat, I can wait patiently until the light goes off and, in one smooth, swift motion, disengage the seat belt and step into the aisle ahead of everyone else anyway. To me, there doesn't seem to be any rational reason for unbuckling early. And hey, if there
is a reason, put it in Comments. I really want to know.
Boy, that
really grinds my gears!!
Speaking of air travel, you know what else really grinds my gears? I'll tell you: the "official" names for
Washington National Airport,
Houston Intercontinental Airport, and
Anchorage International Airport. I won't use their ridiculous "add-on" names. Ever.
But that's for another rant. For now, I think I need another tall airport beer ...
