Self-loathers turning against each other in Broward
Well, here's something you don't see every day. Broward County's gay Republicans, who already obviously hate themselves, now have a new target for their disdain: each other.
One group of them has broken away from the national Log Cabin Republican movement to create the "Sunshine Republicans." Sounds to me that, well, they just loath themselves even more than the other folks do:
The new Sunshine Republicans are downplaying gay-oriented issues and emphasizing issues such as taxes, questioning Democratic health-care proposals, and opposition to the plan to limit carbon emissions as a way to deal with global climate change.I guess if you really, really hate the fact that you're gay and you want to support the party that hates you right back, well, the Sunshine Republicans are for you.
“What we do in our bedroom comes second to what our political affiliation is,” said Benjamin Lewis, president of the Sunshine Republicans, and — until he resigned recently — vice president of Broward’s Log Cabin Republicans.
“We believe in equality for everybody. However ... we have a broader platform of what we are working for,” Lewis said.
One question, though: just the bedroom? Really?
