It's The maf54 Show!

Proving once again that Wingnut Welfare works even for disgraced former members of Congress -- actually, given Tom DeLay's turn on "Dancing With the Stars," maybe that's especially for disgraced former members of Congress -- erstwhile congressman and "page turner" (get it?! page turner?! Heh ...) Mark Foley (R-Fla., despite what Fox News may wish) has landed a radio gig in south Florida:

Foley taped his first stint behind the mic for "Inside the Mind of Mark Foley" on Tuesday. It will air Sept. 22 on WSVU out of North Palm Beach, Fla. On it, he tackles topics such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and its role in the Bernie Madoff scandal.

There's even hope for eventual syndication of the show, which will explore Washington politics.

"I don't see anything stopping it," said Joe Raineri, the show's producer. "I can tell you, he's very good."
Taped? So Mark won't be taking callers. Just like wingnut blogs typically don't allow commenters. Nice.

Foley, who gained notoriety in 2006 because of his proclivity for flirting with male, generally underage congressional pages via text message as "maf54," apparently floated a trial balloon to WSVU, and it has taken flight.

[Show producer Joe] Raineri said Foley approached the station a few months ago with the idea for a show. Station honchos then huddled to discuss the pros and cons — the main con being whether listeners would be turned off by Foley's past.

"We weighed the informative aspect of it against everything else and determined that what he has to say is much more important," Raineri said.

And it won't cost them a dime. Foley is working for free, and has said he'd bring his own advertisers.
For the record, after the 2008 election (following up on the Sky News gig) and again to a lesser extent after my post-tea party Olbermann thingie in April, I contacted a number of radio stations to see if they wanted a liberal talk show host with radio experience; I included demo CDs from Blast Off! Radio and I even said I'd work (initially) for free. The response: total silence. Evidently presenting what a left-wing commentator has to say isn't important at all.

Well, obviously I need to be involved in some sort of disgraceful public scandal in order to be a talk show host. Anybody know any underage pages?
