The Democrats are coming! The Democrats are coming!
After a lengthy, party-imposed hiatus, Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton finally are making their way back to Florida this week, and each is planning an appearance or two right here in America's Glans™ (as is Huggy Bear, for that matter).
Obama-rama will make at least two stops in south Florida, while Hillmania just announced a public appearance in Broward County.
Obama's three-day swing through the state will include a stop at a Boca Raton temple Thursday for an invitation-only event and a public rally Friday at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise. Further details were not available Monday.Meanwhile, just a few minutes ago, I received an e-mail regarding Sen. Clinton's plans for tomorrow; indeed, she will be in south Florida as noted above:
Clinton's campaign announced Monday that she would be in the state Wednesday. That would mark her first public event in Florida since she claimed victory in the Jan. 29 primary.
McCain's schedule includes a Miami town hall meeting on Latin-American issues and a fund-raiser at the home of Fort Lauderdale attorney Scott Rothstein.
Obama's visit to the B'nai Torah Congregation on Thursday comes as he and McCain have continued to spar over foreign policy and support for Israel.
An ice cream social? Ooooookay. It's sizzling in Broward County!

At any rate, this is going to be an interesting week around here, and it underscores the importance of Florida in the electoral calculus for all three candidates this year.
Oh, and for what it's worth, I have it on pretty good authority that a certain sucky yet intrepid south Florida blogger whom you might know will be attending one or both of the Obama events. Stay tuned ...
