Just when you thought the Right couldn't get any dumber ...

Man, there's a couple of ridiculous things bouncing 'round the Intertubes this morning.

First, last night, Drunky McStagger gave his customary remarks at the President's Dinner, a fundraiser that wasn't quite as successful as last year. He made a special acknowledgment of Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.):

I appreciate the chairman of the Republican Party, the general chairman, Mel Martinez -- Senator Mel Martinez from the state of California, and his wife Kitty.
No, Drunky didn't correct himself. Truly, words escape me. (Thanks, Holden.)

Meanwhile, the Creation Museum, which featured a porn-star Adam not long ago, has a lovely planetarium exhibit where you can experience "a thrilling 22-minute ride billions of light-years away to the vast outer regions of our universe."

Okay, I'll ask the obvious question: how can stars be "billions of light-years away" in a universe that allegedly is 6,000 years old? (Thanks, Wes.)

The problem with creationism, like nearly all right-wing rhetoric, is that in order for any of it to make sense, you have to suspend your disbelief to an absurd point. The inconsistencies and hypocrisy boggle the mind.

But, they never let the facts get in the way of a good story, do they?

Today's Daily Schadenfreude: the Creation Museum

You've probably heard about the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., which singlehandedly may make Kentucky even more batshit crazy than Florida or Texas, the competitors in the Batshit Crazy Bowl.

Well, the Creation Museum is wiping egg off its metaphorical face this morning. (At least I think it's egg.)

The man who portrays Adam for a museum based on the Bible's version of history led quite a different life outside the Garden of Eden, flaunting his sexual exploits online and modeling for a line of clothing with an explicit mascot.

Registration records show that Eric Linden [right], who portrays Adam taking his first breath in a film at the newly opened Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., has owned a graphic Web site called Bedroom Acrobat.

He has been pictured there, smiling alongside a drag queen, in a T-shirt brandishing the site's sexually suggestive logo.

[...]

"We are currently investigating the veracity of these serious claims of his participation in projects that don't align with the biblical standards and moral code upon which the ministry was founded," Answers for Genesis spokesman Mark Looy said in an e-mail.
Yes, it seems that the Creation Museum, which shows dinosaurs and humans living together and which argues (among other things) that the Earth is 6,000 years old, has a bit of a hypocrisy problem.

Seriously, I don't see why anyone's raising Cain about this. Shouldn't an actor be Abel to play any role he wants? I mean, it's not like he was doing anything Eve-il ... then again, I guess it wouldn't happen if that chick hadn't Eden the apple, eh?

Thanks! I'll be here all week!

As you ready your rotten vegetables to throw at me, be sure to join me in congratulating the batshit crazy Creation Museum: today's Blast Off! Daily Schadenfreude is for you!
