McCain, who reneged on his promise to commit suicide if the Democrats won a majority in Congress in 2006, will speak today in Coral Gables -- the subject: immigration.

In the speech, parts of which were made available to reporters before its deliver [sic], McCain rips his Republican rivals, including Mitt Romney who has described the [Senate immigration] proposal as amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Among the lines the Arizona senator is expected to deliver: "I would hope that any candidate for president would not suggest doing nothing. And I would hope they wouldn't play politics for their own interests if the cost of their ambition was to make this problem even harder to solve. To want the office so badly that you would intentionally make our country's problems worse might prove you can read a poll or take a cheap shot, but it hardly demonstrates presidential leadership."
